The text on the magazine are very importand. This is because it will give the first impression to the buyer of what the magazine will be like.
The font, colour, size, shape, style and language used will change everything abuot the magazine, it will give the first impression.
The font used on the front of this magazie, Smash Hits, is very bold and bright. The writing is all capital letters which catches your attention straight away and keeps it. By the title you can tell that the magazine's target audience is young adults, 18 to 30 year olds. You can also see by the fonts, sizes and colours used indicate a rock, rebelious theme. The front cover has certain assets which suggest it is for a real music lover.
The name of this magazine is Blender, all the letters are bold capitals which make it really stand out although Taylor Swift is blocking the end of the word. It suggests to me that its target audience is 14 to 20 year olds, this is due to the fonts and colours used and also the image. Other fonts on the front cover also stand out well although they are just plain writing fonts (nothing fancy). They have made even more important word stand out by making them a thick, bold, dark colour to attract your eyes to them. This is a great technique to attract buyers.
My magazine is going to have more of an indie genre therefore the fonts will be big and bold, colours will be minimal but bright and eyecatching, sizes will be large and styles will be quite stylish but rebelious at the same time. I want this to create the best look to match my genre and to attract the audience. I want the look to be very modern and interestig, so it 'drags' the reader in and excites them, making them want to read on.
By researching different fonts on websites i should be able to find the best one to fit my magazine.
I will also be using the technique of making more important words stand out by changing the font, shape, size or colour. This i feel is very creative and different.
